Explaining Victim Impact from Cyber Abuse: An Exploratory Mixed Methods Analysis

Crime and deviance can have a significant long-lasting effect on victims. While the literature victim impact from traditional types of crime like robbery or assault is well established, much smaller scholarship examines online forms with only handful studies focusing experiences adult The current paper analyses data sample U.S. adults (N= 746) using mixed methods to examine perceived different cyber abuse. A thematic analysis open-ended responses identified five main impact: psychological, emotional, social, financial positive. We also found that females, victims, who were abused by someone they knew, experienced multiple abuse tended experience higher impact. Besides, some appeared affect victims more than others.
